South Korea – Day 9 (photos) – Captain Troy Lightfield!

A very cool ceremony consisting of full dressed guards in time appropriate dress. As we waiting for this show I moved closed to the [...]

South Korea – Day 8 (photos) – Off to Seoul and the War Museum

Today we bought our train tickets and headed to Seoul. It took us about 3 hours by train which beat the cheap alternative of riding a bus for over 7. Once there we got checked into our value motel and then headed for the South Korean War Museum. The Museum was full of war artifacts, [...]

South Korea Day 6 (photos) – A Day at the Beach

Today we decided to check out one of Busan’s main beaches,  Haeundae. It was really fun to see South Koreans at the beach. A majority of them don’t even appear to have swimsuits on! We even seen one lady in her tube with high heels on. Another man decided he didn’t need swim trunks at [...]

South Korea – Day 5 (photos) – Haedong Yonggung Temple

Today we headed to Haedong Yonggung Temple. This temple is unique in that most of the Korean temples are in the hills. Haedong Yonggung is right on the shore of the East Sea. The rock shores and waves crashing down on them make for the perfect backdrop for a beautiful temple. Enjoy the pictures!

South Korean – Day 4 – Something Smells Fishy!

Our first big day as tourists! We put on some serious miles. After hanging out in Guri’s Bar the night before we may have been a little slower than normal, but we stepped up our game and had a great day.

South Korea – Day 3 (photos) – Eat, Drink and Be Merry

Stone City’s General Store Pub – Reviewed

Posted by admin On July - 15 - 20091 COMMENT

We had the pleasure of visiting Stone City, IA last weekend and it was suggested that we visit the Old General Store Pub for a meal. The Old General Store Pub is just across the bridge in town and has a nice little deck off the back that overlooks the Wapsipinicon River. The restaurant is built out of stone from the local quarry which really ads to the experience. We really couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day. It was nice and warm but not humid at all, perfect for sitting on their... more

This post may be a little premature but I wanted to set up a table of contents if you will for my upcoming trip to South Korea. I really hope to post while in country but we’ll see how much grief I get for trying that! For those of you who haven’t heard yet, Sarah, my mother, and I will be traveling to South Korea July 21st to see my sister and Jacob. We’ll be there for about 7-8 days so I hope the post on all our adventures, sites seen, and maybe even some of our popular reviews... more

Potato Pancakes from Leftover Mashed Potatoes

Posted by admin On July - 4 - 2009Comments Off

4th of July Potato Pancakes What better day than the 4th of July to try  a new pancake! Since pancakes are one of the best things ever invented it was time to make use of our leftover mashed potatoes. As usual we didn’t use one potato pancake recipe in particular but took queues from a few different recipes on the Internet, including some ingredients from Paula Deen. Since this was our first try we were worried how they would turn out, but since I make the world’s best pancakes they... more

Back to the 50′s Car Show St. Paul Minnesota

Posted by admin On June - 23 - 2009Comments Off

Last Friday we headed to the 2009 Back to the 50′s Car Show in St. Paul, MN. We paid 10 bucks to get in and I over heard a guy saying it was $25 for the weekend if you had a car which allowed for two people to drive in. Pretty cheap entertainment if you ask me! If you’re into cars at all this is a must see event. There really is something for everyone, custom rat rods, vintage Impalas, chopped Mercs, you name it (as long as it is older than 1964!).  The Back to the 50′s Car Show... more
